Can the LightKeeper Pro fix LEDs?
Due to the different physics behind incandescent and LED light sets, the LightKeeper Pro cannot assist with LED light sets. But thankfully, the company behind the LightKeeper Pro also offers the LED Keeper — the complete kit to repair LED light sets!
How to tell if you are working with incandescents or LEDs?
a) Incandescent bulbs have filaments and tend to get warm when lit a while LEDs do not
b) Remove a bulb and look to see if the wires are offset or not [Offset = LED; Equal height = Incandescent]
c) LEDs have a plastic encasement while incandescent has glass
What type of bulbs come with the LightKeeper Pro?
Non-flashing, Clear 2.5 volt Replacement bulbs, 170mA and 0.425 Watts.
Can this tool fix a strand where every other light is out?
The LightKeeper Pro can assist with incandescent light sets that are wired in series, meaning you can remove one bulb from a functional section and the section will become unlit. Typically, if every other bulb is out then we are dealing with a control box or a light set that is not wired in series. The LightKeeper Pro cannot assist with light sets that have control boxes, rope lights, battery operated sets, or LEDs.
Why buy this for just a string of lights?
The LightKeeper Pro is great for pre-lit trees, icicle lights, net lights, wreaths, wire frames with lights, and other pre-lit décor!
Does this tool work with 220 Volts?
No, the LightKeeper Pro was designed for 120 Volts only. Thankfully, there is an International LightKeeper available which is designed to work with 220 Volts (outside the U.S.).

The LightKeeper Pro has two repair methods: 1) The LightKeeper Pro’s Quick Fix Method repairs the #1 cause of light set failure known as a Shunt Issue (internal bulb failure). 2) The LightKeeper Pro’s Audible Voltage Detector assists in finding interuptions in the circuit such as loose bulbs, connection issues within the socket, etc. This feature does not work on a lit light set that has no issues. The average incandescent light set only lasts up to about 2000 hours. Our LightKeeper Pro can fix most incandescent, series wired light sets unless the light set has been used to the full capacity and has no more life left in it.
Over our 20+ years of being the light set repair experts, we have gained tips and tricks for particular light sets. The LightKeeper Pro is not intended for LEDs, Rope lights or light sets with control boxes (including battery packs). The LightKeeper Pro only works to assist with light sets wired in series, meaning the bulbs rely on one another to illuminate. If you can go up to a lit section of your light set and remove a bulb, and the section then becomes unlit, then your set is indeed wired in series– meaning the LightKeeper Pro should be able to assist with this type of light set.
